Spinners are the final stage in the life cycle of the mayfly, during which the adult fly mates, lays its eggs and then dies. A good spinner fall can produce very intense rise activity. Many fly fishers miss the cause of this feeding activity due to the difficulty in seeing the natural spent spinners on the water.
