Each year in the East, fly fisher's anticipate the hatches of these large mayflies in the late spring. Green Drakes, locally known as Shadflies (duns) and Coffinflies (spinners) cause the most excitement, since they hatch on nearby Penn's and Big Fishing Creek. Anglers to our north regard the Brown Drake with equal esteem and the Yellow Drake is ubiquitous throughout Pennsylvania. Our Green Drake pattern is a slight modification of a fly developed by noted angler George Harvey.
